Jimmy Cagney & My Grandfather

January 1940 saw the release of the movie The Fighting 69th. The cast reunion was a big deal in NYC that day, culminating in a black-tie affair that evening at the Waldorf=Astoria. My grandfather, Col. Henry J. Anderson of the 69th regiment, chats with Jimmy Cagney, one of the stars of the film.

My grandfather died before I was born and this photo was always hanging in our apartment. I sent a copy to Mr. Cagney, and he returned it autographed.
